There are just no words to describe what South Florida's own R&B/Funk/Motown/Top 40 Band, Pocket Change brought to #TheHub on September 9 - so we will just have to invent a word. And when we come up with something to do it justice, we are absolutely going to hashtag and trademark it.For now, we're #speechless, other than to say WOW, What A Night!. And if you were there (and hundreds of you were) perhaps you can help us make up a word to describe their incredible performance and comment below.

The first time I heard pocket change was at the Vietnam Veterans Reunion in April years ago. OH MY GOD! It was the best music. They all are very talented, and most of all GENTLEMAN.

I also had one of my traditional favorite Pompano Seafood Festival dinner from Papa Hughies, stone crabs and oysters on the half shell. Delicious as always. The surprise of the night came from the opening act, Pocket Change- a great R&B/Pop/Soul group that mixed everything from Uptown Funk and Happy to classic Isley Brothers and Temptations. They did a uniquely strong job mixing both the currents and the oldies. Talented musicianship. Great, soulful singing. I would say they were the best cover band I have seen in at least ten years!

‘Pocket Change’ is a six-piece R & B band that enjoy playing all over Florida. We were very fortunate to catch up with the group at the Seminole Immokalee Casino where the band were certainly rewarding patrons with a great selection of ‘oldies’ and an equal balance of ‘newer’ hits.Pocket Change rocking guests at the Seminole Immolakee Casino.

POCKET CHANGE a gifted set of musicians that groove to Motown, Funk, Soul and R&B. Eddie Carmichael, founded the Band in 1994, they have been playing-it-live as opening acts, Main Stage Performers, and as headline Entertainment at Music and Food Festivals throughout the State of Florida. I heard their performance at The Miami Taste of Brickell Food and Wine Festival on March 23, 2013. Their brand of Music and Entertainment is Outstanding!

While Pocket Change played, dancers filled the grassy area in front of the stage. The stage lights were casting a shadow over the MIAMI CIRCLE, it occurred to me that this very spot, in this very space a festival at the mouth of the Miami River might have looked very similar 2000 years ago when the Tequesta Indians inhabited this very space. By the time Pocket Change had finished their set, the grassy area was filled with men and women dancing! Kudos to the Entertainment delivered by  Eddie The Thrill  Carmichael, the band leader/founder of Pocket Change.

I have been a professional in this industry for more years than I care to mention. Having produced concerts and shows with major recording acts and touring artists and I am here to say. I have never seen a band on the "local" scene put as much "professionalism" and "showmanship" into a performance.

Whether they are doing a party for 50 people or appearing as an opening act for a concert they are...

consistantly in the pocket each and every time. If there are any aspiring bands out there or bands who feel they have not yet hit the mark take some lessons from Pocket Change, NO EGOS, NO KNOW IT ALLS, and the art of showmanship that comes from hours and hours of hard work, practice, rehearsal and the constant drive to be better. Take note Pocket Change is truly the best.

Naples Beach Hotel and Golf

Hey, Y'all! I saw you at the Naples Summer Fest. You are absolutely marvelous. I'm a 61 year old grandma, so your music is golden to me. Actually, I was the oldest broad down front when it was raining like h***. I told my husband that was the first time in my life I had danced in the rain. What a great time. You guys are wonderful. When I hit the lottery, I'm going to hire you to play for me and my family. BTW, have you ever heard of Ram Shackle Shack by the Tams? Just love Joe Pope and the Tams. Anyway, a great big thank you for a wonderful night of music and memories. God Bless You All!!!

Noble Financial managing partner Mark Pinvidic wrote : Further to my call yesterday I wanted to make sure you have a record of how pleased I am with our selection of Pocket Change for our track event. As you can appreciate, the planning of a conference of this size is a daunting task. Successful execution is dependent upon the collective efforts of many. The band and their entire crew arrived well in advance of the event to ensure they were ready. It was extremely hot and uncomfortable but the entire set-up was done with a smile. There was a lot going on and not everything was going right. However, when it came to the band, I didn’t have to worry about anything – I simply pointed where to set-up and that was it. Now for the best part; they are great! I got comments like, “if I had picked the play list, it would have matched song-for-song”, and, “they were fantastic – from their look to their voices, they are awesome”, and, “I went to another financial conference and they had a rap band – they could learn something from Noble… these guys are great”.Please let all of the guys know how much I appreciate their professionalism and, of course, their musical talents! And thanks to both of you for making the booking process a lot of fun.

Pocket Change

April 7th, 2009 : Other Food : 2 Comments ?

*****  Pocket Change  *****
I recently caught an absolutely dynamite local  rock-disco-funk-Motown cover band. Pocket Change.
There are 6 guys in this band and everything they play is live, no tracks, no tapes. These guys cover artists like The Eagles, The Four Tops, The Temptations,  Marvin Gaye, The Tokens, The Commodores, Sam & Dave, Prince, and I do mean COVER them. Absolutely great musical versions accompanied by some-slick dancing by the upfront men.
This band is so good, that for years, it has been a regular act at joints like Universal Studios, Disney World and Orlando?s House of Blues. These guys also play in tons of local South Florida restaurants-bars, like Blue Martini which has a number of locations.
You definitely want to ckeck this band out?. www.pocketchangephasetwo.webs.com where you will find a full schedule of upcoming performances
